Huisman has received an order to deliver a Travelling Load Stabilising System, which will be integrated into both 3,000+mt Leg Encircling Cranes for Havfram’s two new NG-20000X-HF Wind Turbine Installation Vessels. This system enables Havfram to stabilise wind turbine components during installation, particularly blades, but also nacelles and tower segments.
Thies Clima has introduced upgrades to the Ultrasonic 2D Compact wind sensor, providing additional functions for wind turbine operators and nacelle manufacturers. The new US 2D Compact "Plus" model variants include features such as anti-icing protection to MIL STD 810G, an adaptive ultrasonic level control mechanism, and an acid-resistant coating for extreme environmental conditions.
In wind turbine construction, both new installations and repowering projects must optimise technology for maximum energy yield while ensuring materials meet holistic life cycle assessments. Aluminium recycler Speira and construction company Bayards advocate aluminium as a more environmentally friendly alternative for the nacelles of modern wind turbines. Compared to conventional materials like glass fibre-reinforced plastic (GRP) or steel, aluminium offers clear advantages for the environment and efficiency.
RWE has announced the winners of its global "Co-use Competition". The competition sought innovative solutions for biodiversity enhancement and co-existence with other sea users. A panel of RWE experts evaluated 77 applications from 17 countries, selecting two winners based on the potential value of their technologies for RWE’s offshore wind portfolio.
