Sonardyne has introduced Sprint-Nav DP, a new shallow water dynamic positioning (DP) reference system. The system combines high-grade inertial navigation with doppler velocity log (DVL) technology in a single, pre-calibrated unit, providing accurate positioning without relying on GNSS signals.
Senvion India has partnered with German manufacturer Voodin Blade Technology to develop and produce wooden wind turbine blades for its 4.2 MW turbine platform. The collaboration will begin with a feasibility study assessing the technical, economic, and environmental viability of wooden blades, followed by prototype installation and testing.
Enercon is introducing a high-wind version of its E-138 EP3 turbine, designed to replace the E-82 EP2 E4 and expand its portfolio for strong wind sites. The new variant retains the hardware design of the standard E-138 EP3, which has a 138-metre rotor diameter and 4.26 MW rated output.
Enercon, Ilsenburger Grobblech (a Salzgitter subsidiary), and Schönebecker Maschinenbau (SMB), part of TM Group, are collaborating to produce a lower-emissions steel tower. The components will be used in early 2025 for an E-138 EP3 wind turbine at the Diepholzer Bruch wind farm in Lower Saxony, Germany.
We4Ce, a Dutch rotor blade design company, has completed validation tests in India for its new 2.5-3MW rotor blade, developed for Suzlon. The blade structure was designed in the Netherlands, while InDutch Composites Technology produced the mould and prototype in Vadodara, Gujarat, where Suzlon conducted load and fatigue testing.
Penta-Ocean Construction (POC) (Japan) has commissioned Ulstein Design & Solutions to develop a heavy lift vessel tailored for offshore wind foundation installation. The vessel will feature the customised Ulstein HX118 design, equipped with a 5,000-ton Huisman main crane and the Ulstein U-Stern.
