Omexom in Germany and Austrian company Seven Bel have developed Acoustiscan, a system designed to detect partial discharges in high- and medium-voltage components before damage occurs. Partial discharges are considered early indicators of insulation deterioration in medium- and high-voltage systems. The technology, which has been adapted specifically for offshore installations, is intended to help prevent unplanned outages, improve maintenance planning and reduce repair costs.
Acoustiscan is based on the Sound Scanner technology developed by Seven Bel. Working with Omexom, the system was further developed to meet the operational requirements of offshore wind turbines. Omexom contributed expertise in the operation and maintenance of critical energy infrastructure, while Seven Bel translated these requirements into hardware and software enhancements. The resulting solution combines sensors, analysis software and a dashboard for predictive condition monitoring of critical high-voltage components. The system automatically detects and assesses anomalies, providing regular reports with recommended actions. Around 80 sensors are currently deployed.
