ZF Wind Power has launched a modular powertrain platform for wind turbines, based on its Shift gearbox concept and the company’s powertrain development experience. The platform combines modular gearbox and main bearing unit configurations with an integrated generator design. ZF says the architecture can be configured for different turbine designs, load conditions and operating environments.

Vestas has introduced the V182-7.2 MW wind turbine, based on the EnVentus platform. Depending on site conditions, the turbine is designed to increase annual energy production (AEP) by up to 6% and reduce the levelised cost of energy (LCoE) compared with the V172-7.2 MW.

HybridGenerator has introduced the HG Lite, a compact hybrid generator for temporary power applications in wind farm construction and other construction projects. During wind farm construction and commissioning, temporary power is needed for equipment such as safety lighting, pumps and tools. HG Lite combines battery storage with on-demand diesel generation, allowing the engine to run when additional power is needed. The system can also be used on road and rail infrastructure and urban construction projects where grid capacity is limited or a permanent connection is not yet available.
