Dogger Bank Wind Farm and Seaway7 have installed all 277 transition pieces, marking the completion of foundation work across the three-phase offshore wind project in the North Sea. Seaway7’s heavy-lift vessel Seaway Alfa-Lift installed the 87th and final transition piece on Dogger Bank C in late November.
This followed the installation of 95 transition pieces at both Dogger Bank A and B. In total, Seaway7 has installed 554 foundation assets, including 277 monopiles earlier in the programme using its heavy-lift vessel Seaway Strashnov.
The 3.6 GW wind farm is being developed in three 1.2 GW phases: Dogger Bank A, B and C. It is a joint venture between SSE Renewables (40%), Equinor (40%) and Vårgrønn. SSE Renewables is the lead operator during development and construction, while Equinor will manage operations for the expected 35-year life of the wind farm. Vårgrønn provides offshore wind expertise.
Located more than 130 km from the Yorkshire coast, the project includes installation of 277 GE Vernova Haliade-X 13 MW and 14 MW turbines.
